This Deal Kent Wedding is absolutely bursting at the seams with fun, energy and a whole lot of love! It’s going put you all in the mood for a party!
I first met Poppy when I was photographing her twin sister Florence’s wedding a few years ago. I remember thinking ‘wow these girls are gorgeous!’ and I always secretly hoped that when Poppy got engaged I would be asked to capture her wedding too. Then my dreams came true when her lovely man Dan popped the question and they booked me. A few weeks before the wedding I spoke to Poppy and she told me that they were going to be having a band-lead procession through the streets of Deal on their wedding day, I wasn’t quite sure what to expect! But when the day came around it was incredible!
We started off at Poppy’s family home where the reception was also held. It was a beautiful sunny morning and the girls were so relaxed and happy when getting ready. Then completely unexpectedly the heavens opened to the most torrential downpour I had seen in a while. Poppy was completely unflustered and made her way to the church under the cover of many umbrellas. After a brilliant service (where the vicar called the groom the wrong name, see if you can spot the photo!), the rain was so bad that we weren’t able to leave the church, but true to form, Poppy turned it around by asking the male voice choir to perform a few songs which their guests enjoyed singing along to.
As is by magic the sun the reappeared and we were treated to a glorious sunny afternoon where the wedding guests enjoyed drinks and nibbles in Poppy’s family garden and then were lead thorough Deal by the awesome brass band (just as Poppy had promised!). This part was so much fun to photograph and you could tell that Poppy & Dan were having an absolutely ball with all their lovely friends and family.
The wedding breakfast took place in The Astor Theatre, which was a wonderful setting for the wedding party to enjoy brilliant speeches and an epic party!
Before I finish I would like to take a moment to mention how beautiful Poppy looked. A truly elegant and radiant bride who isn’t afraid to let her hair down and have a good old boogie, she’s my kind of girl! Dan could not wipe the smile off his face all day, they are clearly besotted with each other and I wish them every future happiness.
