If you’re in the mood for some timeless romance you’re in luck! The shoot tells the tale of A Forgotten Love Story set in the grounds of the magnificent Somerley House, Hampshire.
Inspiration
“A woman was clearing the belongings of her much loved grandmother, who had passed away recently at the grand age of ninety-seven. The woman had loved listening to her grandmother’s tales of her life and how she had met her grandfather at sixteen and fell instantly in love. She knew that they had two glorious years together in love before her great-grandfather was called to duty for WW2. During those years they had lived in a little village called Ellingham, where they spent as much time as they could outside exploring, walking around beautiful Somerley Estate and going on bicycle rides to the beach for picnics and ice cream.
When the Grandfather knew the war was inevitable, he proposed to his beloved and they had the most beautiful and happy day with their loved ones. Sadly, the grandfather died fighting in the war in 1943, however not before celebrating the birth of their beautiful daughter. The Grandmother would get so sad talking about these times, that the Granddaughter would often change the subject. Whilst searching through belongings in her Grandmother’s dusty loft, she was so ecstatic to stumble upon a pile of love letters from her Grandfather to her Grandmother during their few but very special years together, along with special memorabilia from the time. Today we are depicting our version of the love story in beautiful Somerley House, and how we envision it would look today.”
Our stunning model Anna wore the delicate Anna Kara lace dress perfectly. The timeless bridal styling was completed by hair and make up artist Mari who made Anna look radiant. I captured the entire shoot on medium format film and Anna’s beautiful colourings and poise made her fantastic to photograph! Matthew our groom was also brilliant and kept us all laughing the whole day.
Incredible flowers from Blue Sky Flowers gave the shoot a wistful feel and her wonderful cherry blossom installation made such an amazing feature of the gorgeous wrought iron bench. A delicate textured cake was contributed by Vaani from Sugarplum Bakes which complemented the heirloom feel to the shoot.
The best thing about this shoot is that I am now lucky enough to call many of these creatives ‘friends’ which is the best thing about collaborating in the wedding industry. I look forward to working with them all on future projects.
We were delighted to have this shoot featured on Wedding Sparrow earlier in the year. Click here to see the article.
