A Little Bit About Me
Hi, I’m Camilla. A luxury UK film wedding photographer. I’m a romantic, a foodie, wife and mother. I love people and relationships which is why I consider myself so very lucky to have the important job of capturing wedding memories. Here is a little bit about me to help you get the know the person behind the camera.
How I Got Into Photography
I have always loved photography but creating images truly captured my heart during my travels in Indonesia and Australia. It was during this 18 month trip that I discovered that my photographs could tell a story. A story that I wanted to share with my friends and family back home.
I became more and more enthusiastic about photography and my hobby grew into a real passion. Finally I signed up to study at The Arts University Bournemouth and it was there that I had my first experience with film photography. I was completely romanticised by the process of really ‘making’ an image. The journey from clicking the shutter, to development and scanning and printing seemed magical to me.
I graduated from AUB with double distinction. From that moment on my feet haven’t touched the ground. I get to photograph wonderful people on the happiest day of their lives. It is such dream to visit stunning venues all over the world and meet new friends every day. I am so lucky to do a job that I love so much.
Inspiration
I am most inspired in historic buildings and amongst nature and I draw on these elements in my photography. I have photographed over 200 weddings in my career and yet I find myself completely romanticised by
each and every one. I also love fashion and architecture. Luckily for me all these elements come together on a wedding day and I am able to photograph and create beauty.
Luxury Weddings
My favourite parts of a wedding are the moments of connection. These can be fleeting and subtle but so meaningful and tender when captured in a photograph. I pride myself in anticipating these special exchanges and photographing them in a timeless and beautiful style. I really believe that these images are heirlooms to be treasured and passed down the generations.
Film Photography
I use a mixture of film and digital photography at weddings, but I favour film wherever possible. The medium of film photography allows me to treat each photograph as a work of art which is carefully curated and considered. There is a true soul to film photography which gives images a flattering, romantic and dreamlike quality. These photographs will be hung with pride on your walls and shown to your children and grandchildren which I think is something pretty special. There is a soft beauty to film that cannot be matched by digital. It renders skin tones perfectly which is why it is oh so flattering. Film images have a dream-like quality which is perfectly suited to weddings. It is soulful and everlasting. I shoot on a combination of medium format and 35mm cameras. Oh, and I do shoot digital too when the light is not right for film.
My Family Life
When I’m not behind the lens I can be found jumping in puddles with my husband and son Max. We live in Christchurch, Dorset so spend a lot of our time either on the beach or in the New Forest. My other loves are food with friends, wine, great movies and traveling to new places. This is why I so love photographing destination weddings!
